About This Production & Local Casting:
We’re developing and premiering a new musical set in New Orleans, and in order to honor the show’s voice, we’re workshopping and premiering it in Louisiana.
For this production, we are seeking Non-AEA performers who are local to (or able to work as local hires) New Orleans Parish.
Synopsis:
The Rue Bayou is a shopworn, spellbound New Orleans music club – part blues joint, part sanctified refuge, sitting at the crossroads between the world of the living and the spirits who dance in the night. The story follows Miss Ilean, who built the Rue Bayou to honor her last husband, R&B legend King B. When corrupt Parish Commissioner Robicheaux issues an eviction notice, the tight-knit community bands together to protect their home. At midnight, spiritual forces awaken, and the club’s matriarch, musicians, and spirit-world guardians ignite a magical battle that lifts the Rue Bayou into a protected, otherworldly realm. Together, they learn that love binds, music heals, and community endures beyond time.
